OpenAI to bring AI models to Google's cloud, in further expansion beyond Microsoft
Enterprise teams will be able to access OpenAI models through Google Cloud, giving developers another procurement and deployment route beyond Microsoft Azure. The addition means OpenAI's models will be available across the three largest cloud platforms: Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud. For builders, the practical benefit is flexibility. Companies can use existing Google Cloud contracts, security controls and data infrastructure rather than adding a separate cloud vendor solely for OpenAI access. The announcement also marks a further loosening of OpenAI's historical dependence on Microsoft. Specific model names, pricing and availability dates were not included in the report, so teams should wait for Google Cloud's service details before comparing the offering with Azure OpenAI Service or OpenAI access through AWS.
